Cruise control retrofitting, indicators not working?

Did a bit of digging and found the part number for an a8 cruise control stalk which is one of the same part numbers as whats fitted to the 80.

Fitted it today, found the blue 6 pin plug, so that should be easy enough with a bit of wiring.

Stalk was a straight swap including plugs, but now the indicators don't work? Can't see any reason why, full beam etc are fine. Just the indicators, wondered if anyone's done this before?

    Hi,

Did the same a few years ago without problems, although your problem (if the stalk is ok!) is probably bad contacts, disconnect it and use electronic spray cleaner and see if it works, I had the same problem with the windsheild wiper washer, the washer part had a dirty contact and didn´t work and after cleaning it was fine.

You haven't said exactly what you've swapped. If you've swaped the whole indicator stalk over then you may get problems as they are not all the same despite looking similar externally - as you say "which is one of the same part numbers as whats fitted to the 80", yep there's more than one of them.

If you search the forum you'll find several posts on here explaining the different versions of stalks and the mods needed.

The surest way is to take just the actual stalk with the cruise control switches etc. in it and replace it in your original unit but that means taking the unit apart which is possible but fiddly with springs and contacts waiting to jump out.

That's what I had to do when I swapped mine over having bought a S2 cruise and indicator unit off here that should have matched but in fact was different.

Thats what I did too, the stalk itself fits straight into your old switch housing

        This might help you:

        Indigo ABY coupé
        Imola B6 S4 Avant

Cheers for the info, will try giving it a clean. Seems a bit strange just the indicators don't work, will take it apart, give it a clean and compare to the old one.

Swapped over the 2 complete light stalks on the left - part number 4D0 953 513 M

Yeah after taking it apart again it seems the indicators are on a different bit of loom/plug. Was easy enough to just swap the stalk over between the units.
