"Wanted: Female Audi S2 enthusist must be 5 cylinder turbo charged nymphomanic"....

I've got one. They can be more hassle than their worth at times though

She want's her own S2 coupe and she want's me to buy a sport quattro for the weekends. I explained that would require selling the house and living in the cars:eek2: which would be interesting. I could always refit the towbar to my avant and buy a caravan

Best not type anymore as she's been known to lurk on her looking at what I post.

As for the electrical problems if it's not the ignition switch, which it certainly sounds like it is, then try the x-relief relay. This is what cuts all the ignition fed items when you crank it over. I've known them to stick on some VWs. Very rare though.

Mine generaly goes silent when i read her a price for bits so then i get suspicious and start worrying about where she'd like to go on holiday next and when:confused: .
Just the other day it was  £700 quid for a set of brakes, my mk1 polo only cost me £35 quid, so i said did your mk 1 polo hit 162 on the clock and dust most things it meets on the urban drag strip . She eventualy gave up and said ok as it does need em (so i told her )

Rule #1. Its my car and I pay for it.
          Rule #2 See rule #1
          Rule #3 See rules 1 and 2.
Rule #4. If you want to have a family car; why don't you get one and pay for it all? Can you get us all in your MG? No, I didn't think so.

Oh and as she earns more than me I can get away with that attitude.

On a more serious note, what is the x-relief relay?
And more importantly where is it/

I was somewhat surprised to see the number of relays and relay panels in the inder dash area.
Naively I had assumed that the majority of them would have been in the fusebox.......Oh well you live and learn as ever with these beasts.

@Michel - Just get AMD to change the ignition switch as Martyn & Steve have suggested. Its far and away the most logical cause - don't let AMD pretend that they had three of their best technician spend 8 hours diagnosing a fault.

30 quid max for the switch and 1hr labour max.

              Good luck,

                Paul,

                Thanks for that.
I have already told AmD to be prepared to change it.

If this does not remedy the situation then they can look for an alternative cause.

This forum is a great source of experience and knowledge on these cars which does not exsist elsewhere.
If I can brief the garage in detail as to the problems I would like addressed and give them a logical starting point them I think I get the best use of my money and their time.

                Or am I just dreaming.........

                  Martyn,

Ignition switch????? Do you have one in stock?
Do you have a part number?

AmD are saying that they are on back order for a month....or so and I'll not get thro the MOT without it......

                  Cheers.....
