    Fuses Question

So I've had a short on one of my fuses (no.4) which is a 15 amp.

While looking around at the fusebox I noticed no.19 and 20 are missing.

No.19 is related to central locking however I have an audi alarm.
No. 20 is for the radiator fan 1st speed.

Is there any reason why no.20 would have been removed?

My guess is somebody had a problem with their after-run pump "324" relay sticking on and draining their battery and the quick solution was to pull the Fan fuse (relay on a C4 UrS).

Fan still works though not on 1st gear..I suppose there couldn't be any reason then for them to pull it out

Number 5 is still there..is it only no.20 that causes such an issue?

Did you click on the quattroworld url link I provided above? It tells you all about the after-run pump and the related "324" relay issues and the results of such issues.

Will have a look under the steering tray then when I can to see if it is still there even!

I recon whoever removed it may have needed a 30 amp fuse in an emergency as the only spare there is is a 5 amp. If I have a 324 relay and is sticking "ON", would replacing it fix the battery drain?

A 324 that has stuck "ON" will keep the after-run auxiliary coolant pump and radiator fan on at the first speed until the battery is drained to nothing. Therefore, replacing the 324 will likely fix the problem. It is possible to open the 324 up and file the points on the relay as a temporary fix until you find a new 324.

Are replacements still available from audi?

Checked on another website with PT No. 447 965 571 A

              http://www.online-teile.com/audi/adv...+571+A&x=0&y=0

Seems to be the correct part?

Not seems to be, *is*. 447965571A was used as late as the 2001 RS4 so it should still be in the system.

After-run auxiliary pump control module exposed

While it is possible to open up the "324" 447965571A "relay", turns out it is NOT a relay at all.

Hmm...I was always under the impression that they failed when the relay points stuck closed. WRONG. (Merde). It is a control module (Kate says "control unit"). No mechanical contact points like a relay. All electronics. So, the only thing you might be able to check is for bad solder joints, otherwise, it is a new part (used as late as the 2001 RS4). (See new 324 interior photos under the location photo)

Location in an UrS4/S6 (as an example)

I'll definitely take a look at it in the morning, although at 67 euro, it's not a hefty price to pay to fix the issue.

Local stealers quoted me €160 saying there's only one of these left.

Could be, I'm gonna need it for the summer, so got a couple of months left. Summers in malta are too hot and won't do the car any favours.
