    Extreme HID's

    A few of you know I have been working on something a little special with the ellipsoid headlamps for some time. Well ill health at teh start of the year, the company moving and me trying to move home too put these on the back burner. Winter moved them up the priority list and at last I have been able to test out one combination of 'extreme' xenon. Phase two in project S2 'headlamps that work' may still be a long way off, but hell, stage one ain't that bad , not bad at all. Here's some proof of the pudding for you;

    This shot compares phase 1 in project 'Extreme S2 headlamps' This is extreme HID compared to halogen stock Ellipsoid headlamp, no words are needed!

          There are many aspects that need to be tested, retested and field tested with these. I'm probably talking a good few months still before any release date on these, I've got a lot of technical points that I want to be 100% happy about before anyone gets anywhere near having a set of these! I'll keep you updated but it's looking good!

              Porkkis time frame for release will probably be around the end of January to February at first estimate, this will more than likely change if I find anything not up to my liking. Price, not set, depends how much more R+D work is needed and how many 'extras' will be supplied with this kit, but estimates are probably about 80-100 GBP more than our existing HID kits.

                Cheers Tom,

                Actually, weren't you the one who said recently that brightness wasn't a legal mot point? only that both headlamps must be of the same brightness? that would be good to know Tom!! Anyway, we are still WAY under the legal limit in terms of max wattage permitted on a road car also..... I may, just may..... build in an adjustable output on these if they are too wild for the road. Maybe....

                As a side note, anyone spotted the headlamps on the latest Mercs, jeez, what are they running??? you have to turn your eyes away from those headlamps as they really hurt your eyes!! we're not in that league, if they are, then I'll build adjustable output into these, possible automatic, although most of us prefer to be in control all the time huh?? H4 is not in the program Tom, you'll have to switch to Ellipsoids....

                    I'm sure i heard that HID lights had to be automatic levelling.
                    I could've heard wrong though.

                      They look the nuts Martyn, makes me glad I never got around to getting a set of the originals before, as I'll definately have a set of these when they are ready.

                      Have you changed anything inside the projector lamp or is it just the bulb and stuff?

                      Mark.

                        they are supposed to be, but that sort of thing doesnt come into MOT. They are more worried about a stonechip in the windscreen. Worth getting the alignment of your headlamps checked out if fitting HiD kits.

                          Cheers Tom! SS HID do indeed need to be autolevelling to be Legal yes. An auto levelling upgrade is planned (phase 3).

                            Thanks Mark. It wouldn't matter if you had got a kit already, these are inter changeable, stock to extreme and back if need be, or, back to halogen in a few minutes! unlike Microsoft I try to build OUT any compatability issues in the first place!.

                            Nothing has been done to the projectors no, not yet..... that's phase 2 (using a better projector) and then bi-xenon is phase 4
