Take it to an mot garage, they should all have the adjusting equipment.

would putting the later lens onto the older H4 unit make any difference (even in stock form or would it just ****** up the beam even more. I have to admit that even though i am completely broke currently, the standard dips are sooo bad that night driving is a pain now

        Cheers,

Its an optical gain I think and hope - not higher energy lamps !

Ok, with this stage of mods, we have relocated the focal point of the bulb to make better use of the old style projectors. The bulbs are new and are 6000K. We've also increased the current drain from 2.92 amps per bulb continuous to 4.16 amps continuous (H1 halogen bulbs as standard on the S2 headlamp drain 4.58 amps) This will punch more light through the old style projectors which were sapping about 30% of the available lumen output. One of the next phases I have to complete, is using a new projector from another Audi which I already know will fit and work with some degree of internal modification to the S2 ellipsoid headlamp. There is a major problem with this mod (and it’s a mod that will need to be done oneself!!) the S2 headlamps need to come apart down to component part level. I.E stripped to single pieces completely to install the new projector. What I have found so far by doing, is that the plastic components on our 10 year old cars are quite brittle and can break. I have broken one adjuster that cannot be bought on its own (new headlamp needed) although this can be worked around and fixed fine. Whether anyone really wants to go to this level of modding?? That’s for each person to decide!! The same can be levied at the bi-xenon option, which will be the same kind of install with some addition simple wiring to make it work. These projects are long term, none of these will happen over night. As I complete them and get them working ok, I’ll share the info with you and you can decide for yourself if you want to go to the same extreme lengths that I am! Also, 12,000K must be in the extremely purple/blue light spectrum!! If you ever see a set of 8,000K bulbs in use, they are BLUE! 6500K is the highest I think should be used.

On my 3B - my fog lights now look awful colour-wise. What bulbs are in the 3B fog lights and what could I change them to to match a bit better what I now have with the HID kit? I've got PIAA extremes in the H1s and the sidelights.

Any verdict on whether my HID kit is actually technically illegal or not, given that it doesn't have an anti-levelling system?

Funny you should mention that Dan. I wasn't happy with my "yellow" look either so I've just fitted some of these PIAA Plasma bulbs in my fogs today. I'll see if I can post before & after pic's later tonight.

Did the 3Bs not come with the manual headlamp levelling adjustment on the dash ?

Here's the crack with auto leveling.

Spoke to my Rozzer mates today, and he said that the autoleveling is a requirement incase a car is towing a trailer caravan etc as the front end of car will change height during driving and the lights must auto level because of this. He says as long as the lamps line up and would pass an m.o.t the rozzers wouldn't pay too much attention.

He also said if he saw an S2 with a trailer he'd knick them!

The 3B does indeed have an internally adjustable headlamp aim jobby - next to the ABS defeat button.

So provided I've aligned my headlamps ok and don't tow any caravans in the near future, and keep my headlamp washer jets clear, I'm ok?

@Pete - so the 3B foglight bulbs are H3 halogens? 7500k seems very blue coloured?
