    Alternator Wiring help

Got a slight problem I couls use some help on...

    Alternator has going to it:

Positive-2 red wires from loom and also 1 coming from that siemens thing mounted on the n/s slam panel.

Negative-1 wire coming from the siemens thingy

small blue wire going to housing of alternator.

Is this right? My battery light stays on,vdo gauge reads just under 14.No issues with the car before engine was removed, now back in and this happens.Only other issue I have had is the oil pressure and oil temp gauge going off the scale, pressure now sorted and temp I hink is down to a loose connection via the spade connector on the sender.

    Thanks peeps

The blue wire should go to the field. not at the ground. This is wy the lamp is on all the time....
Dont rew the engine as the voltage will increase...

You should have an screw...5mm i think...coming ot through the rear plastic cover...
              You have the A6 alternator?
Can you make a picture with the back af the alternator?

That terminal.....you say is negative....is not ground...is grounded untill alternator is giving power..then switches to positive....
Is strange that the alternator is giving 14v....

Blue wire is the exciter that creates a magnetic field for the alternator and this wire is in series with the Batt/charge light. The alternator output is connected to that wire via a diode, so this wire becomes + once the alternator is generating and then the dashboard light goes out as you now have equal volts either side of the bulb. 13.8V output is about right.

The red ones...big ones are going to the big positive terminal.
The blue one at the small terminal....
The other separate black....where is going?
I think that...also at the small terminal.
It has the small hole no?
You cannot fit that at the big terminal..
