    Lights issue

    I have a rather strange issue with my Audi 80 1987 1.8S 66kw (Carburettor).

If I switch to parking lights, it works well. If I switch to main lights then also parking lights work and exactly the same with high beam lights. I've checked the bulbs and tried different switches which work perfectly on other cars.

Also, there is one exception - high beam lights work when I hold down/pull high beam switch.

Sounds like you may have a ground loop somewhere. That or your stalks are faulty.

      Thank you for your reply!

I have tried to find a ground loop, but never found it. Is there somewhere specific where I should look?

I tried to take ground directly from battery to the light, but did not work. Then I tried to take positive from battery to light and it worked! So now I'll have to find where it gets lost. Are there any common causes?

Interesting... I always thought the sidelights (parking lights) were supposed to be on with all lights! At least my S2 is... I might have the same issue as you, which might explain some odd behaviour (lights dimmng with washer jets, weak washers, battery warning on first start)
