Electric windows RIP

Hi!
Just been searching the forum, and it seems that everyone has had
problems with the power windows!

Mine just died, none of the windows work, and the sunroof also died on me.

From time to time, they do work, but i do notice a strange double click when I press the drivers side window switch.

Any thoughts on this?

Relay under the steering wheel, it's located to the right hand side at the top.

Mine just decides to unplug itself every once in a while!

Relay should be 363 or 287 I believe.

I think later model S2s got the 363 relay.

The underside tray is held by 4 M8 bolts, 3 across and one to the bottom right.

Is yours LHD or RHD?

I think LHD may be different

Sometime tapping the relay on a surface is enough to get it going for a while, but I did something more permanent to mine

Mine just needed a visibly cracked (once opened up) solder joint resoldered. Worth checking as its a dead easy fix if that's the problem.

I had checked this 363 jobbie, cleaned the contacts, and it got better for a couple of days, and then died again.
Took the relay for an electrician to check it, and he said that there was nothing wrong with it

Maybe i'll just have to leave the whole car there, maybe its a broken wire, or the switch, but the fact that none of the electric moving parts are working...

Just don't know...

I just want to sort this, so I can send the doorcards to the upholsterer!

Though the problem you describe is almost certainly the 363 relay which is to fault unless there is a wiring issue.

Won't be a switch as they are each individual, so if one goes, the others shouldn't be effected, but when the relay goes, windows + sunroof go kaput.

Sometimes the AC goes into Auto alone, and takes over the operations!
Other than that, everything is ok.

We had such an issue with a 2006 audi a4, and sometimes the wiper would come on if you adjusted the aircon

Regardless, get your electrician to resolder all the joints on the 363 relay along the connector pins and the base of the relays on the circuit board.

Also check the thermal fuses - there's a post on here by Jase11n explaining why they fail.

363 relay, I had an 80 tdi where the windows and sunroof would just randomly stop working, a new relay fixed it
