There in lies a problem. The procedure will only work with the ignition on. You could do it by unplugging the ignition switch and plugging in a new one (or removing the ignition switch) so you can turn it with a screwdriver.

Bit extreme but it would work. The other option is to get a spare key cut. The blanks are cheap from Audi and any locksmith/shoe repair shop should be able to copy your existing key.

Which reminds me, why do shoe repairers always cut keys, and radiator specialists always sell number plates? Seem strange combinations.

        Hello
Can you please be more specific "FAT AUDI 80" !!
If you can assist fair enough then do it!
If not I don’t need your criticism and your irony please!!

I have followed the procedure mentioned previously by “S2AVANT” .
Because I have only one key I have used it to switch the ignition ‘ON’ then I have manually lock the doors by pressing down the drivers knob and then I have pressed the infra-red key transmitter once , then waited for 5 sec after the last signal and then pressed again the key transmitter to terminate the programming but the car did not unlocked.
I think that this was because the key was not pointing directly the infra-red receiver since the key was incerted into the ignition switch.
Can anyone assist or suggest how to overcome this and programme the key??

Irony and criticism are not welcomed please! I need only your help.I think this forum is one of the best because its aim is "No problem , we aim to please" as S2AVANT mentioned previously.
        I do the same.

        Regards
        MATI

Fat Audio 80 said nuff respect to the forum because the forum came up with answers and suggestions to help you out with your problem.

As a new member please do not take issue with an established member who was mearely pointing out how good the forum has been to come up with the information.

Reads like a bit of a "wrong end of the stick" situation to me.

You could almost apply the old adage that they say about the British and the Americans: "Two nations divided by a language"

@Mati: Fat Audi 80 wasn't being offensive, he is just celebrating the "greatness" of the S2 Forum.

                Hi Mati,

Please do not take offence, as already stated (thanks guys) I was merely pointing out yet again how a very difficult problem has been solved by the excellent knowledge of the members of this forum. You will find out what a great place this is....

Sorry to have caused any confusion with my post.

                Cheers,

...and here lies a gem from the past

Was wondering why my central locking remote didn't work last time the car was running, probably something to do with the fact the engine was out for 6 months prior, answer found in this thread.

Amusingly as I read Ben's write-up I was wondering what to do if you only have one key, which was asked and explained in the following thread!

                        I love this forum!
