Lighting up aux gauge

Just a simple q for someone out there...
Do the aux gauges light up if the speedo cluster is not connected?
The dials on the aux gauge power up but the bulbs are not firing up.

Is it a simple case of attach speedo and hey presto? Or does the rabbit hole get deeper?

The main dials change the illumination brightness, so you need them connected

It's the same as the hazard light switch needing to be connected to give you indicators
