Autocheck: Fault when switching on lights + from high to low beam.

    Hello again

When I bought the car the autocheck worked correctly.

Then I installed xenonkit in both hign+low and I got a fault (yellow sign for broken bulb) when I put on the lights and when I switched from high to low beam. But when I went from low to high beam the fault disappeared..

So I took away the xenonkit in the low beam, and thought that would solve the problem, but no

    Any thoughts ?

I have checked the contacts on the backside of the headlights, and everything seems to be alright.

    thanks

    kind regards

    Even

You haven't said what sort of headlights you've got. H1 projector units with seperate hi and low beam bulbs?

I installed HID's on low beams.everytime when i switch on,the bulb out sign just stays on for a few second and off.

i also replaced the autocheck module from dealer.it didn't work out.i think relayed it might help but i'm just too lazy

to get it done since that is not annoying me at the moment.

Autocheck only monitors the low beams, it isn't connected into the high beam circuit.

You can do the pin K mod and that way autocheck can never tell the instrument cluster you have a problem.

As you will see from the linked thread, some of us like me have never had a problem with their HIDs and autocheck continues to work as it should, others have had to do the pin K mod.

Interested in how you're running HIDs on the high beam given they take a whille to come up to full brightness and don't take hindly to being switched off and on lots of times.

So you have RS2 lights but do you have a RS2 car?

On the RS2 and S2 with projector headlights there are seperate dip and main bulbs and when you change from dip beam to main beam the dip beam stays on alongside the main beam.

If your car, or more importantly your headlamp stalk. is from an earlier car originally fitted with H4 bulb headlamps then as you switch from dip beam to main beam the dipped beam is turned off. If you have that sort of switch, then I understand how you could trigger autocheck as you change from dip to main beam.

                  Thanks Johne

No, I got a 93 S2. It had standard headlights, and then I upgraded to rs2 projector headlights. The autocheck did not give me any trouble before I mounted the Xenonkits.

Aha, yes, as you say, when I change from dip beam to main beam the dipped beam is turned of.. Nothing I can do about that??

Did the k-pin mod Oooh finally oh so quit, me like hehe Thanks a lot guys !

I suggest you fit the stalk from a car that had projector headlights as standard. That way the dip beam will stay on when you go to main beam which will give you more light on main beam, get rid of the gap in light as you come back from main to dip as the HIDs start up and most importantly, let your HIDs last more a long time as they won't like being turned off and on so frequently every time you change from dip to main and back.

I had to to this to my 3b to keep main on with dip when fitting projectors and HIDs. (originally fitted with reflector headlights)

You need to remove the yellow wire at the top (position 7) and put it where the green arrow is (position 8).
If you start to prise the 2 parts of the plug apart is should just pop out, dont seperate them fully or all the wires will come out causing big problems if you dont know where they all were.
