I currently dont have my 80's to hand as im away, but the loom for the 3 centre gauges that come in the coupe, is this loom behind my 93 saloon tdi dash as standard and just not used? Or will i have to run a new loom? If so, can anyone tell me what colours are which on the gauges.
There is a 5 pin plug and a 2 pin plug
on my tdi there is only 1 wire in the connector so i would assume you will need to wire it up. Im breaking a 2.6 quattro saloon with gauges so will see where the wires go
TDI's weren't equipped with VDO gauges, so they must be wired up. Which gauges do you have - older (three separate clocks with rings around them) or newer (all clocks in one unit with no rings)?
Here's wiring diagrams:
old - http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/D/D34-07.pdf
new - http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/B/B73-08.pdf
Almost all necessary wires, excluding two from senders, can be found in radio and center console buttons wiring.
You will need oil temp. and pressure senders too if you haven't already got them and it's a bit tricky to fit pressure sender on TDI.
Ive been to the car im breaking and it isnt a seperate wiring loom for the gauges You would have to seperate a loom and trace the wires. Best bet is to use the wiring diagram mdz has supplied
