    Cruise control for A6 C4

    Morning all

I'm in the process of retro-fitting cruise control to the A6
I have all the parts from a 95 A6 2.6 auto to fit to a 97 2.8 manual and have picked up another valve for the clutch pedal
However, it seems I don't have a bracket for the valve on the clutch pedal assembly, or anywhere near it. The parts book suggests the only difference between pedals is for LHD and RHD and one for AEC engine.
I've looked on my other A6 and it is the same, no bracket.
So, is the valve on the clutch pedal absolutely necessary? Or just an extra precaution?
I am able to modify the pedal box if needed but would rather not bother with the hassle of removing everything to get it out, it’s not like I tend to drive along the motorway randomly dipping the clutch as I go.

Would be grateful for some pics of the pedal box of a manual with cruise if someone has any

    Cheers
    Andy

Wasnt the C4 cruise all operated by the ECU?

I thought you just needed the cruise stalk and wiring to the ECU along with an update of VAGCOM?

A lot of what you need to see is in the post that I just made:

Yeah, no Drive-by-wire on the 2.8 unlike the AEL

I've taken a quick pic but it certainly doesn't look like the pedal box in your thread.
The clutch pedal and pedal brackets are made from pressed steel, not cast ali as in your linked pictures
The clutch pedal pivot is over the steering column and there is nowhere that the vent can be fixed to contact with the pedal.
Also, the brake light switch is 4 pin but the wiring diagram would suggest two pin
I intend to take the dash out tomorrow to get a better view of it all

In both of your photos I see a large hole and a small hole where the cruise control disengage/ventilation switches would likely be located.

The larger hole is for the vent for the brake pedal, the smaller hole is about 4mm
The idea is to extend a bracket accoss to the left for the clutch pedal
