    Fuellevel-sender removal

How the frick do i get the sender with arm out of my fueltank.
Car is 80 2.3 quattro B4. Same as S2 Avant and Not the same as a fwd 80, those are easy.
Should be similar thou with some kind of locking that should be pushed or do i have to take out the hole fuelpump-assembly?

    Pictures would help alot.

Please. Tired of guessing the fuellevel and finally found a donorcar in the scrapyard, just cant get it out.

    Thanks - Tobias

You can undo the lockring by chapping it with a bit of wood for a drift, then you need to depress the clip to pull the sender out. Its a bit of a pain the first time as you cant see the clip with your hand in, Daves PDF has a good picture of it.

The b3 pdf shows what it looks like in a fwd b4 car just push on the side to release.
Doesnt seem so easy in the b4 quattro. Tried for a very long time both in my own car and the s2 avant and couldnt find/feel the "magic button". :-)
Can anyone confirm with hands on experience with b4 quattro?

Double frick. Removed sender from donor. Just a click and done..donor 94 2.6 v6 quattro Avant.
Ive been down a 95 S2 avant before, could not get it out. Must be another system, as in my 2.3 sedan quattro..

Or maybe ive gone blind in my hands since i just cant find the pushlock..

I have done it on a 1992 B4 80 Quattro 16v saloon. I just fiddled until it clicked and lifted out.

Much easier once you have it apart and can see how it works.

I will give it another go next time fuellevel is low enough. Hoping for the best.
