C.L pump starts minuts after doors opens and will not stop :(

    Hello.

I have changed 2 central locking pumps the last year and are now on my third.

I can lock and open the doors many times as normal (the pump start and stop), but suddenly after 2-5 minuts after I locked / opened the door the pumps starts again and will not stop...

    Any thoughts ?

    kind regards

    Even

Sounds like there is a leak in the system or switch wire is shorting out.

Really, sounds like a short to me?

Have you experienced the same problem with the different pumps?

        Thanks for quick answers

        The car is a 93 s2

yes, both pumps have "burned" up.

Any easy way to search for a leak or a short ?

With really big shorts, you can wait until you smell smoke and see flames. That is the easiest way.

But seriously, there is no easy way. You'll need a multimeter and long leads and potentially a friend to help.

Here is a link to the electrical diagrams that you will need:

For a vacuum leak, you can use a small vacuum pump connected to the central locking system and then listen for leaks at the doors and hatch. Provided you keep the pressure low, you could pressurize the locking system and listen again.

          Good luck.
