    low voltage

    hello,

and again i got some problems with the s2...
the voltage shown in aux gauges is only 11,8-12v and if i turn aircon or wipers the voltage falls to 10v...

    anyone any ideas???

Have you checked to see what the voltage is at the battery? Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running using a multimeter and then see if the alternator charging.

Put multimeter and measure the charging between alternator body( ground ) and thick red wire of alternator. You should get like 14.2 V.
IF you are not sure about the battery is a good idea to put a GOOD battery before any test.

The voltage shown on the Aux voltage gauge is not accurate for two reasons:

The gauge isn't calibrated - there's an adjustment slot in the back to set the reading from a known source

The Aux gauge reads the voltage where it's connected which is at the end of the wiring loom so any voltage drops in the loom show up lowering the voltage on the gauge which is why the reading on the gauge goes down when you turn things on like the lights/aircon etc.

In short what you're seeing on the gauge is normal and the gauge is just for show, it's rubbish.

As others have said use a decent voltmeter directly on the battery terminals or at the back of the alternator and expect to see around 14.2 volts with the engine running and 12.8 with the engine stopped.

same problem on my UrS6.Cut the end of big wire from the Alternator to the Starter.there's some oxidation or loose terminal on the starter end.

anyway, recently i got some low voltage issue again.the Aux gauge see 13+V during the day.At night, when i switch on the low beams HID's and

A/C.the Aux gauge reading at 12-12.2V.another issue is when the voltage dropped ,my wipers start to working by itself.I still have not fixed this due to

                my time constraints.

my voltmeter showed crap today.. like 20,2 when in was off and with engine on 22,4... gonna buy a new voltmeter and test it again.. but the prob is its not only the aux that shows the low woltage but the dash shows also low battery in auto check..

you need to check charge at the alternator, then battery as wiring could be deteriorated, very common and i had to add an earth strap to mine to gain the lost .9v!
