rear lights

I'm wondering why someone would drill out the little metal bits on the back of the light housing not the bulb holder the actual back of the light my brake lights ain't working

Maybe someone was trying to fix their water leak by letting the water out because they couldn't figure out how it was getting in?

Cheers for reply the holes are not in the bottom of lights they have drilled some metal clips out round where the bulbs go in!

bit weird to do anyways, can't see any reason to do it?

Also was wondering how much play should be on drive shaft?
