Lateral G sensor for audi s2

Never knew an S2 had anything like this, What is it for? ABS?

It displays G on the dash display next to miles left in tank, not sure if it actually does anything else. Nice in a car as old as the S2.

lol,must say I have never come across one of these.It is listed on a lot of 1980s and early 1990 cars though

alarm bells ringing when i saw this because my s2 has a habit of not wanting to brake anymore than IT feels is adequate almost as if the ABS cuts in long before theres any locking in the wheels...still ok but not quite what you would expect.
I have always wondered if it was somehow programmed to not brake more than a certain G threshold in relation to the standard brake setup.

unless it's for the airbag system as a crash sensor? Can anyone confirm?

Its a sensor for the ABS. Put a volt meter on it and start moving it

Its under the rear seat bench on a coupe.
