No light in climate control screen S2 1994

Hello, As you can se on the picture the left sreen on my climate control panel went dark yesterday. Is it just a blown bulb, and if what bulb do i need for the screens and the buttons in the side?

From memory the lights that illuminate the screens are led on the electronic module and to replace they need welding.

So i have to buy a new control unit? I think i short circuited the power and ground line to the radio by an accident, can that be the cause?

Not necessarily but old age could also be the case.
What you can do is get a used one off ebay making sure it works, then once you take out your own unit, it has a small plug at the back which disconnects the face plate from the rest of the unit box.

You don't need the exact part number. Any will do, since if you chance the face plate alone and keep your old box it will work perfectly. If you buy one as a whole from am A3 model or an s4 it wont work as is on the rs2. That is why you need to change the face plate only.

What part number is the face plate then?

Its just some tiny bulbs in a socket. I changed mine in the UrS4.

Face plate doesn't come with a part number. You have to buy the whole thing.

Ah cool. Just noticed that. I thought they were panneled. Apparently I was wrong! Good stuff

If you do some cross-reference and find e.g. a osram or hella PN then you can properly get them cheap

BX8.4d is the name of the bulb

These are easy to replace. You need to pull off the surround and then undo two screws to remove the control unit. you will see IIRC 4x small recess on the back where you use a small screwdriver to replace the bulb

The ones you describe are for the buttons. His is the screen so looking at the above link he needs to get to the faceplate to reach those bulbs
