    VAGParts Remote Locking Kit

I just received my remote locking kit from Martyn (Thanks again) and fitted it last night.
Its an easy 5 minute job on my Avant - BUT - how the hell do I get all the indicators to flash when it locks/unlocks?
I can get the brake lights to flash and the right hand indicators to flash, but I can't get all the indicators going (like hazard warning lights)

Has anyone else got this kit fitted and got the lights to flash? If so, can you tell me what wire goes where?

    Thanks in advance....

Fixed it! And boy, am I thick or what?ops:

Two wires - one black and white - the other black and green. I was trying to splice them both into the drivers side rear lighting loom.

WRONG! The black and green wire splices into the black and green wire on the drivers side and the black and white wire splices into the ....

    wait for it ......

black and white wire on the passenger side!

Press the button, indicators flash - easy peesy.

In an Avant it is a 5 minute job MAXIMUM. This includes tidying up the cables and making a cuppa.

Coupes on the other hand will still be tring to fit it after dark!:nana:

Yep - that's why my RC locking module is still in its box... I haven't been arsed to remove the trim below the rear window.

Its easy on the Coupe too... if you don't mind removing the rear seat, right trim and bolster. I did it ages ago and have lots of photos but never did get round to a 'How To'

I've done it its taken me 1/2 the day because i had to work out why the car would only lock and not unlock but its all done.

All you needed to do was remove the drivers side rear door card. 1 screw on door pillar. The two screws on sill trim, screw underneath the black seatbelt runner near the tweeter, the rear seat side bolster to reveal another screw and it lifts out.

Also connected up the indicators into the central locking too which was quite an easy task with a leatherman and a multimeter. The Black/Green wire and White/Black wire's for the indicator both run down the passenger side and are easily spliced into. Anyway its all in and working.

The prob i had turned out to be a loose connection on the brown wire which joins onto another 3, a little tweak and problem solved

mmm, well in the last three weeks with all the stuff ive had to fix on mine i'd say not. But i love tinkering and you can do plenty of that on these and when you have enough you check what the stealers charge and you get a new burst of energy to do it yourself

Thought it was standard, my car locks and unlocks of the clifford alarm key fob.

Remote locking was an optional extra on the S2. The factory version is spotted by an IR receiver on the B-pillars. But the aftermarket kit (OEM equipment on later 80s, Cabrios, A4s and so on) is a bit more stealthy.

COngrats to Greg for having the energy to take BOTH rear trim panels off - but then he did guess wrong first time.

The CL module is on the RIGHT side, but the indicator wires are on the LEFT.

Ah i see, i didn't think it was that hard to take off the rear trim, i've had all the trim off the car (yep for I.C.E reasons) and back on in no time.
Mind you when it comes to mechanical work i'm hopeless, i've got this lovely short shifter kit sitting by my computer.........
Take your bets when it will be installed.......... and it wont be soon!

LOL, short shifter was a bit of PITA took me an tom a while to do mine, grey/creme coloured interior and grease dont mix so we were having to be very careful with that one.

Im not too bad at taking the trim off now, the first time it took me ages to find all the screws and stuff.

I don't know if this particular kit is still available but there's a choice of several different units on eBay that will do the same from around 20Euros upwards.
