    I have a no. 363, 4A0 959 257 here. This was in my 3B S2 before we fitted the pop out rear windows. It definitely had one touch up and down. The relay that's in there now with the pop-outs only has one-touch down. (and you're probably going to ask me for the number aren't you)

    Rynaqui: Thanks, this is what I found out:

    287 = 443 959 257B (I believe this is the number in my coupe (95 model ABY) = Control unit for electric windows and sliding roof operation - front

    327 = 441 959 257A = dropped on June 30, 1992 in favour of a 441959257D = control unit for electric windows and sliding roof operation.

    329 = 441 959 257B = Control unit for electric windows and sliding roof operation - front and rear (this is what I have in my 93 UrS4 four door sedan with glass sliding roof)

    343 = 441 959 257C = dropped (no date) in favour of 441959247A (anybody getting dizzy going in circles yet?)

    347 = 441 959 257D (Apparently has one touch up not just down) - Not sure about that. 257D = control unit for electric windows and sliding roof to VIN PN150000 on a C4 and from VIN 8B N 000001 to 8B P 015000 on a ACOQ (maybe including the S2?) and for the A80Q to 8C P 300000 and 8C R 030000.

    363 = 4A0 959 257 (I think these are for 4 windows including pop out coupe?) = was dropped in favour of a 443959257B (the "287"). Okay full circle here folks. I have to get off this ride, my head hurts.

    Hope this helps

    I believe these are commonly used numbers for window/sunroof relays, took a bit of searching (Not sure which belongs to which)

    327 = 441 959 257A

    Thanks for all the replies, there is definitely a consensus as to what the problem is...

    Just as I was planning to rip the under dash trim out, the damn windows started working again ? It might be due to the fact that the car is siting for 3 months at a time, I suppose its entitled to throw a few funnies !

    I will track down the relay and take a look at it, it is bound to reoccur !

    Thanks again

    PAUL

    I had the same problem with my coupe all through the summer.

    I had to re-solder the relay (287) which solved the problem and saved a huge amount of money!!

    Could also be a fault with the thermal fuse, which are the small steel shelled items shown below the 327 relay above.

    Might just need re-soldering and it should be ok, was the case with mine and a few others

    That is usualy the relay (i think it´s the duble one) under the dash that has a cracked solder! Happened to me and after inspecting the solder points one was cracked, resoldered it and it´s fine!

    There are 2 metal fuse up under the dash about the size of a standard plastic one but in a metal cover check those.

    No power windows or sunroof ?

    Help , no power windows or sunroof, dead! Any clues, could not find a fuse so I guess it's a relay ? Could it be the switch on the armrest, none of the buttons do anything ??
