When you say red light is it a symbol in the auto check section or in the panel underneath it? What does the symbol show or which red light is illuminated. There is quite a few

I get his sometimes (as do others) Could be an old brake bomb taking time to build pressure. Monkey has been having similar issues recently, there is a recent thread on the first page. Maybe check with him to see where he is with this issue. Many people (myself included) ignore it. It is almost part of the cars character. First time it happened i checked brake lines, and all various braking components, followed by some braking tests. Nothing is wrong at all with it other than the bomb. Once up to pressure, if you then start the car 30mins later for example, I dont get the warning. It is only after the bomb has lost pressure when sat for a period of time that I get the warning again. After about 30secs, it builds the required pressure and shuts up again.

Hi thanks for reply did think it was bomb pressure but I've bridged wording and it stayed on.mine stays on all time and it doesn't let you see any of auto check because it's on all time I just wanted to sort it for when I sell it next year I didn't think people would want to buy it with this warning light on

It will be a hagling point no doubt. Mine does it now and then all fluid levels seem fine put it down to dodgy sensors or wires

mine will only do this after say a week of standing, the power steering will be notchy for a few seconds.
However the bomb will pass the pedal test with over 30 pumps before going hard ( ooo eer) I suspect my pump may be lazy. Unless it wets itself on the garage floor again I will ignore it..

I just thought if you bridge the wires on the PAS reservoir the light will come on instantly and stay on permanently.

The brake fluid level and the hydraulic fluid level switches will cause Autocheck to come on straight away. As they are wired in parallel you need to unplug first one then the other to determine which one is causing the alarm.

The hydraulic pressure switch is the one that doesn't come on until after 30 seconds have passed and is often (incorrectly) linked to the pressure reservoir aka bomb.

Mine beeps 3 times, and the symbol flashes for maybe 30secs and then goes away. If I stop the car and then start it again in a shortish period of time (say 30mins) I get no warning. Are you saying that this is not bomb related and more likley fluid related? Why would it then go away and not repeat the warning? Either way, I still ignore it as everything works as it should. No puddles anywhere, no loss of power steering or braking power etc. Thanks for your help.

Most likely failed bomb. Do the pedal test. It will simply have enough gas left in it to retain pressure for a short period.
A bad bomb will take less than 10 pumps before pedal goes dead.
Mine takes 35 but of late if the car stands for a week i get it on initial start.

                        Two things to check:

You can see if it is being triggered by the hydraulic pressure warning or by the fluid level warning.
Easiest way to tell is pull the two insulated spades off the pressure switch on bottom of the servo - this will not cause an autocheck warning, therefore if the warning goes away, the issue is either low hydraulic pressure or a faulty pressure switch.
If you still get the warning, the problem lies with the fluid level or the fluid level float switch in the reservoir cap. It is often the cap / switch that is faulty and it can be cleaned out with solvents or replaced for about £25.

If it is hydraulic pressure related, i.e. the warning goes away after unplugging the two spades on the pressure switch on the servo, you can leave these unplugged to save your sanity while you resolve the problem.

Alex you should start offering servo conversions.
Id certainly pay to have mine done. This System makes me. Nervous.

Yeah the cost of replacement parts is silly. Actually I have almost finished my vac conversion now, it's pretty easy if you don't have AC
I'll post up the details on my project thread soon
