Late Model oem HID Main Beams - How do they work ?

Was just wondering about the above, as on my cheap aftermarket HIDs my dipped beams take a while to warm up and get to full brightness - which is fine and they work fine for dipped beam headlights.

But I was wondering how does a new and expensive car's main beam with oem HIDs work. i.e. flash brightly in an instant ?

    Thanks.

They take a while to warm up on the other cars we have as well.

I'm pretty sure they just refocus the beam, move the bulb of reflector or something, rather than an additional bulb. I would love HID beams in the RS2!

I am thinking of a car with separate dip and main beam headlights that flashes to let you out during the day ?

          i.e. their headlights were off.

Bi xenon's have a moveable flap that opens or click closes for dipped or high beam. It is not recommended to switch them on and off....
