So the key on the far left, it is the "sidewinder" or "laser cut" or "switchblade" style key but appears to have the older style IR (infrared) unlocking module. I think this might be from an early D2 A8, but it is exactly what i'd like to buy. I have later style locks to put on an earlier car which has the IR central lock.
If anyone has a part number or more information, that would be excellent!
4D0837246B - that is 'folding key' used on lots of Audi models from circa 1994 with D2-A8 and a bunch of others including TT up to 2006. I got this with an ATP search with our 'KATE'.
That 4A0 part above probably isn't right then as it dates from 1991 and used widely on everything. Maybe there was a specific crossover year for the 'inside cut' key - foldable or otherwise.
Yes - I think you have it there… an ATP search on 4A0837220AB shows it as type 'HAA' key and with pretty narrow application in terms of models and years from 1994 to 1999 - including the early D2 A8 you mentioned.
If it wasn't too dear, could be 'cheaper' in the long run ?
But I'm only thinking out loud.
Would like to have that type of key / locks / central locking arrangement for installation on my '95 S2 Avant, so also interested in how the thread progresses.
