    ABY Fusebox + Rain

I've had some water creep into the fusebox.

Definitely a short on fuse no 3 - even with the fuse and corresponding connector underneath removed.
(Disconnected three connectors and 4 nearby fuses and No3 can be seen to billow a bit of smoke when ignition is off!

Do these have a printed circut or something inside ?

Will try to remove and dry it out on the weekend but guessing its knackered?

Dumb question: is the lid fitted correctly?

    Cheers

      Thought it was.....
      But no.
Only one "tab" on the front was locked down.

Are these a solid piece of plastic or any internal circuitry?

Right then, received a replacement from a forum member () and it arrived today. Can help but notice it slightly differs from what's under my bonnet.

See Marked items on pic.... what are these?

Just want to check before I swap everything over and melt something!

"UrS4boy", sorry to steal/use you picture - but that shows the current set up perfectly.

So, can anyone confirm its a straight-swop? Thanks in advance.

So in the first pic, the item on the left looks like the same shape as the item on the top of the fuse box for clipping the fuse puller onto. I would hope thats what it was. As for the other two items on the right... I havent a clue im afraid.

Factory Shift Interlock relay work around.

First of all let me say that if it was me, I would try to rehab the original panel rather than trying to swap everything over (seems like that is just asking for problems).

The photo of the "new" panel shows a jumper clip on the left hand side where a "204" relay sometimes is located. That is the factory work around for the shift interlock relay (used on the autobox cars) ("Control unit shift lock" shown in the photo below)

I recently documented this for the C4 UrS4/S6s:

                Thanks for the input.....

I just thought I could simply swap everything over as their "plug in".
Guess there's more too it and dont want to risk frying any components.

Seen some pics on the net where those two threaded uprights on the right side have a steel bar bolted between them - but that was off a diesel engined 80!

Will dry mine out properly and hope for the best...off the road for over a week now and wife getting annoyed by being a taxi (Im quite happy tho - saved a fortune on fuel)

Your "new" fusebox is from a diesel. Marked items no the right are place for glowplug fuse - that's the steel bar you mentioned. That and glowplug connector N are the only differences so you should be able to use it.
Here's petrol and diesel boxes side by side, diesel at the top:

it doesn't matter. you can use it. etka says that the same fusebox except of the frame is the same the whole time. from 1987 till 1996 and cab.
