    Alternator pulley wheel

Is the diameter of the alternator pulley wheel important?

Just asking because after getting mine refurbed the shop said it had the wrong pulley wheel fitted. They fitted the supposedly correct one which is smaller diameter than the one that's always been on it.

It's also wider but don't think this will be an issue as I'm running an S4 one as a spare with no problems and this has a wider wheel, the belt sits nicely in the groves and doesn't seem to move about

A smaller one would make it spin faster, is it on a diesel?

Smaller pulley's going to be spinning faster at any rpm compared to larger pulley.
This would have a benefit at idle speed me thinks?

That's what I was thinking, as long as to much rpm wouldn't cause a problem with load

Don't think load will be an issue but the bearings will be worked harder?

Good point have to keep an ear to that one, don't do high miles in her anyway so sure it will be fine
