    Cruise control vacuum pump

    Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of installing cruise control and it's being much more difficult than reading your posts suggest.
I acquired a complete set removed from an Audi A8.
After routing vacuum tube and wires connected everything but didn't work.
Found a thread explaining how to check every part.
First thing to check was vacuum pump and first broken part. So I ordered another one in eBay.
The new one works. Makes a noise when I give power but it can't pull the throttle. I have checked the lung and it's ok.
Is this normal or should the pump be able to pull the throttle?

You need to give two positives(+) to get the pump to vacuum.
Once you have the pump to make that "noise" give a + also on the third connection and it should start to suck the membrane.

So 3 positives will make it work? I need to check that myself. I have replaced 3 pumps so far.
Mine kicks in if I keep my switch pressed but doesn't keep it on. The switch is new also

Thanks for the quick reply Stefano.
A80Avant what I understand is 2+ and one ground.
Will try it tomorrow and post the result.

Yes Vasilis I found out that by mistake in all honesty.... Three spades one needs ground of course and two positives.
It felt to me like the second positive shuts a no return valve on the pump easy to check with a test bulb.
The ground should (remark on should) be a brown or a brown striped wire

                It worked as Stefano said.
Looking front to the pump you must wire + in top and right blade and ground in left.
It completely pulled the throttle this way.
As soon as I disconnect one of the wires it releases but I guess that's normal.

I've been fighting all day with cruise control and I'm almost there.
CC is now working properly but have an issue with headlights.
I can do flash but high beam is not working.
Has someone had the same problem?
I suspect is some pin in the loom that has to be changed...

You have to open up beam switch and check and clean contacts

Thanks for the answer Val. But I already tried it with no luck.
Maybe I did something wrong. I've read that the contacts shoud be sanded and I just used contact cleaner but not sanded.

Did you previously have headlight switch w/o cruise and it worked?
You could move cruise lever alltogether from not working high beam switch to the other.

Yes. I have the old one and it worked properly.
Will try to do what you propose. Thanks for the advice

Ok. This last issue has also been solved.
I dismantled the stalk and found a metal piece bended. I put it back in the right place and now have high beam light again.
                            Finally have fully working tempomat!
                            Thanks for your help
