Alternator problem

hi !

i have strange and annoying problem on my s2 aby. when i start engine alternator dont produce any electricity since i hit about 3000 rpm. Since then it works as it should.
I dont get any light warning on tacho too.
I have already checked blue wiring from alternator to tacho and it is ok.
Any ideas ?

change the brush/ generator regulator....use one with 14,7 or 15volt......

is the light in the cluster ok?
when you turn the key, you should have 12V at the blue cable.
if these two things are ok, then you need a new regulator and check the wear at the slip rings!

hi!

light is ok, but i dont have 12v on blue cable when i turn the key. i dont have any V on blue cable at all
what should be wrong ?

burned diode in the cluster...or check that you have there the right wattage bulb ...minimum 2 watt i think. goodluck!

you need to measure 12v on blue wire when it is disconnected from the alternator with key on or you can put the blue wire to the ground and then the alternator light should also burn with key on.when it's not burning than the problem sits in the dash

This is correct except the fact that you will not see full battery voltage at alternator end of the blue wire as the bulb is like an resistor....higher the bulb wattage...higher the voltage...

i checked with another cluster, but still the same.
what about this blue wire from cluster to alternator, where it gets 12v ? from cluster or from alternator ?

through cluster...bulb and diode...to alternator

the alternatorbulb gets 12v from the printed circuit board from the dash and the
other side goes directly to alternator (blue wire) on d+
disconnect the origionele blue wire from the alternator and take a separate light (3-5watt) with two long wires that you connect one end to a + ( battery +) and the other end to the D + of alternator.the lamp should light and when you start the car the light should turn off and the alternator must give 13.5-14.4 v

hi!

i managed to test my wires today. findings are:
-i get +12v on blue wire when i turn off the key
-if i turn keys on and connect blue wire to ground lights for alternator lights

so looks like i have some problems with d+ line on alternator.... any ideas what i could check ?
