    Alternator help.

    Hi guys.
Alternator went in my B4 TDI a few days ago.
I bought a rebuilt one off fleabay that was supposed to match.
Unfortunately when I compared them, the new one is missing a place to connect "DF" whatever that is
They both have the B+ (red dot) and D+ (Yellow dot)
The blue circle is where the DF pin is on the old alternator, but none on the new.

Can anyone help or should I return it and get another one :/

Hi, Yeah they are two different brands,
But the mountings are the same as is the belt pulley location.
      Just missing that blooming pin

Found a bit on google there, saying that the DF plug is used to tell the ECU that the alternator is sending out a healthy charge.

        Would this make sense?

the DF-signal tells how much power the alternator shoots out.
if the signal tells there is 100% power required, you could turn of some consumer.
