    several questions on electric/heated seats

Hi. I bought seats(from C4S6 I think) some time ago, at the time I didn't notice that there is a red coloured plug under the seat, I assume it's heating? If so, I wouldn't mind wiring in the heating, looking at the harness it doesn't look complicated, it doesn't show anything else apart from the wiring. Is there anything else apart from fuses, or is it plug an play?

Just out of interest, while on "seats" topic, I have C4, and been looking at Audi A8/S8 D2 electric front seats, according to vagcat they are the same, but can I fit electric seats without cutting and welding stuff?

    Many thanks

Watch out for the C4 S6 seats, they will have the narrower head rest pin spacing so no more loop style headrests:

The factory hooks up the electric seating to a few of the thermal fuses in the Auxiliary Relay Panel ("lunch box") under the bonnet:

      Thanks mate.

Why did you mention the headrests? I have fitted the seats, they fit all fine?

Oh I see, so it's basically plug and play, no fancy modules and stuff.

I just thought if I have the plug, might as well wire it in.

Because you said you have UrS6 seats and the car is an UrS4. UrS4s came with open headrests with 260 mm center to center post spacings; the UrS6s generally came with closed headrests with 180 mm center to center spacings. The headrests are not interchangeable, with some rear seat exceptions.

When I bought the seats, they came with headrests, but thanks for the info, always good to learn something new.

I am sure they did. Are they open loop UrS4 or closed (solid) UrS6?

The you also want to score some UrS6 avant rear seats so the headrests can match. Same issue re: head rest post spacing.

I have rear too, and they are closed too (I think!), the middle one at the back is missing though.

S8 Recaro seats are very-very far from plug and play solution into C4 chassis. you would need either welding up the chassis to accept S8 mounting brackets, or hack up the C4 electric seat bases and create custom attachment brackets. Also you must be very familiar with electrics if you want to get the memory system working properly.

I thought it won't be that easy. I am not very bothered about the memory part, as I don't let anyone drive my car So I might as well rebuild C5 seats, if I ever decide to get electric ones.

                      Thanks
