    S6 Airbag diagnosis

Please could anyone assist in some diagnosis with my airbag issues? I dont even have a haynes manual so knowing whats what is an issue.

1997 S6 2.2 took the speedo out and fitted a bulb to an empty bulb holder, white/yellow and black/blue wires and imagine its for the airbag light socket.

Scanned with my vagcom with this result

    VAG-COM Version: Release 303.1

    Control Module Part Number: 8A0 959 655 C
    Component and/or Version: Airbag V AUDI D00
    Software Coding: 01022
    Work Shop Code: WSC 02324
    3 Faults Found:
65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error
    00-10 - - - Intermittent
01025 - Trigger for On Board Diagnostic Lamp: Malfunction
31-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent
    00532 - Supply Voltage B+
    07-10 - Signal to Low - Intermittent

    Thanks in anticipation

You are talking about trying to diffuse a bomb . Not for the non-professional.

The C4 Haynes, which only covers the Audi 100 and A6 with inline non-turbo engines, e.g. AAR, 1.9 TDi and 2.5 TDi says nothing about airbags.

The Robert Bentley does say a few things. The most important of which is:

"Tests of the airbag system must NEVER be conducted with a test light, ohmmeter or voltmeter. Use VAG 1551 scan tool and test the system only in the installed condition in the vehicle"

Im looking for the diagnostics or at least the pin outs for the module.

The airbag systems are obviously to be respected but I have no info on this model Audi

i will post pictures of a late model Passat at work where the bags deployed due to static or similar when checking wiring resistances!

never ever work on them, at all with the battery conected, and always re-connect battery with doors closed and nobody in the vehicle

That would be impossible with the URS6 as the battery is under the rear seat.Definately agree that care should be taken with airbags though.

Moggies..... Good fix on the airbag ecu. how is your S6? Is it on the road being used?

its a good job i know what im doing then!
Anyone trying to attempt airbag diagnosis, who is not qualified to do so, is a fool!

Yes thanks the car has been back on the road for a short while, slowly plodding thro the jobs and just had the bonnet sprayed, not that pleased, but its shiny and not crazy paved anymore.

THis error "65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error" can only be erased by reprogramming the airbag control module. All the rest is only a problem of wires, broken slip rings or damaged airbag.
