    C4 Lamp Control/Monitoring Module details

For those with third brake lights, this is the 302 or 374 module that lives in the Auxiliary Relay Panel 1 (the "lunch box") under the hood. For those without the third brake light it should be the 301 module (in the same location) (See below for details).

    First some basics:

nicht werfen = Do not throw (away, i.e. recycle)

    Glühlampenkontrolle = bulb check

4A0919471 "301" from a Euro UrS4 (my V8 avant in this case) with NO third brake light:

    2 x Sclusslicht - tail light - 12V - 5 W
    2 x Abblendlicht - low beam - 12V - 55W
    2 x Bremslicht - Brake Light- 12V - 21W

    A 4A0191471A "302" from a North America UrS4 (and 95 UrS6) (with third brake light):

    2 x Seitenmarkierungslicht - Side Marker Light - 12V - 3W
    2 x Schlusslich - taillight - 12V - 5W
    2 x Abblendlicht - dimmed headlights (low beam)- 12V - 50W
    2 x Bremslicht - brake light - 12V - 21 W
    16 x Bremslicht - (Additional) brake light - 12V - 2.1 W

    8D0919471 "374" from a 95.5 UrS6:

2 x Seitenmarkierungslicht - Side Marker Light je (per) 3W...5W
    2 x Schlusslich - taillight - je (per) 5W ....2 x 5W
2 x Abblendlicht - dimmed headlights (low beam) je (per) 50W...55W
    2 x Bremslicht - brake light -je (per) 21 W
    1 x Zusatzbremslicht - Additional brake light - 4 x 5W..(up to) 16 x 2.1 W

Interesting that I have been running more taillights in my 93 S4 sedan and not once have I got a lamp check warning from the "302" for doing so. But I am getting lamp check (brake) from the "301" while attempting to improve the lack of 3rd brake light on the 94 S4 avant. It is also interesting that the "374" seems like it might be more forgiving than a "302" if more bulbs or higher wattage bulbs were added to the various systems.

I am confused about the "side marker" monitoring function of the "302" and "374" since we in NAmerica did not get the signal repeaters on the front fenders AND the front and rear corner markers are 5W not 3W and there are 4 not 2. Ah well, mysteries remain to be solved at a later date.

In the meantime, I am going to see if my "302" plugged into the V8 avant cures the brake light warning issue with the 3rd brake light hooked up.

nicht werfen = do not throw (for shipping i guess)
nicht wegwerfen = do not throw away

does the C4 have the upper one originally?
the typ44 should have two separate LGK's...

I thought the "away" was implied. Thanks for the better translation

All I can say is the 4A0919471 aka "301" is in my German market 94 S4 V8 avant with no third brake light and the 4A0919471A (302) is in my 93 S4 sedan with the third brakelight. I am hoping that other C4 UrS owners will confirm the presence of the 301, 302 or 374 and the details.
