    Window issues

Ok did something daft and connected my drivers side window switch whilst ignition was on and have blown something as none of the windows work at all now, anybody any idea what might have popped?

This is on a 98 cab but it's the same as any other B4 front the front forward.

    Ta Andy

Have you checked for any blown fuses yet?

Well yes but can't seem to find any related to the windows. I have seen thermal fuses mentioned on a couple of threads but can't find details...

Checkout s43a http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/workshop/sc..._j91/page2.png have you got voltage to the switch in the door?

          Great many thanks

All switches are dead in both doors so it definitely looks like a circuit failure rather than dodgy relay that plagues these.

Ok, to answer my own question yes there is something that goes pop, there is a fuseable link within the power window relay and yes I had blown it by connecting the switches while the ignition was switched on....

All sorted now though with a blob of solder...

I'd be tempted to get a new relay or replace fuse so you still have protection

Very good point, that fuesable link is there for a reason and considering it blew when I short circuited the system by connecting up the switch with the power on it probably saved the circuit (or even the entire car) from a lot more damage.

I will get a replacement ordered up...
