More window issues

I've been reading through the threads on the dreaded electric window issue as my drivers side window has pretty much stopped working unless you give it a hefty helping hand. I've lived with it for a while but today when I got home the window wouldn't go up at all

The passengers side window works without any issues from both the switch on the drivers side and the passengers side so I swapped the switches around on the drivers side and once again the drivers side didn't work but the passengers did. The sunroof also works fine so I don't think it's the relay that's the problem.

I had to take the door panel off any give it a shove from underneath to get the window closed for tonight but obviously need to do something more permanent.

Does this sound like a motor issue to anyone? If so, are they difficult to replace without taking the whole window mechanism out? I can get by with a fair amount of stuff on the car but am not overly techy so measuring voltages is out of the question

I would just get a replacement window assembly and motor off another car. The whole mechanism is easy to replace once you have the door card off.

I'm thinking along those lines, there's a couple on the bay from Audibits2 but unfortunately they're both passenger side ones. I'll keep a look out I guess. I also just found this link http://quattro.rechlin.us/100/windows/ which would be the way I would go if the car wasn't parked on the street.......I wouldn't trust some oik to be in the car whilst the window was out!!
