    central locking system audi rs2

    hi guys,

my central locking system just go with the key but not wit the key infrared signal.
I changed a time ago the central pump because the other one was broken. i found in the manuals that the key need to be reprogramed but even when i tried that it doesn't work with infrared. i already change the batteries of the key but no results. when i close the car with the key the horn. is there a way to look with vagcom for fault codes? can i test the signal on a other way to see if there is no cable broken?
    cheers.

There is no connection to VagCom for the central locking or alarm system on our cars, they're too old for that.

There is an infra red receiver on each side of the car, does the remote work on one side but not the other?

Wiring diagrams to help you are on S2central.net

There is no site who are working but in the timer when they changed the pump before me, i didn't work eather because they don't lurned the key again. So they put a Gt alarm.

So I had a GT Alarm fitted to my car but not as an alarm just to use the radio transmitter remote instead of infra-red which my car didn't have. The Audi central locking/alarm unit was still left fitted working as normal.

Are you saying you've got a GT Alarm key fob remote now?

It is likely the GT Alarm would have been wired in your lock/unlock circuit which is different to where the infra-red sensors connect.

The infrared sensors connect to to connector "C" on the central locking controller if you use the diagrams on S2Central.net or connector T16 on the diagram Dave posted above from a C4.

I would suggest you try and monitor pins C10 & 16 for the left hand sensor and pins C2 & C15 for the right hand sensor and see if you can see any change at the controller when you activate the infrared key fob.

I'd note that it's because the infrared system is so useless that many folks have gone over to a GT Alarm or DoubleClick unit to get their cars locking/unlocking to work reliably.
