    oil pressure gauge

originally it was a 1991 CQ 7A, now a mule (3B,ABY,AAN,7A) with LHD ABY harness
oil pressure gauge needle goes above 5bar w/ ignition on, no actual reading
1., swapped an other gauge, same
2., changed the polarity at the oil pressure sender, same

any other ideas/suggestion what should I check?
    Thank you
    Chris

Have you turned over the engine? Does it read +5bar at idle?

If so, use a mechanical gauge to measure actual oil pressure and go from there.

Shot in the dark: what's the condition of your oil galley check valve?

Although I couldn't find a reference for this, what I remember is when the oil pressure gauge shows more than 5 bar even after the engine is warm and idling, the gauge system (sender?) has failed or there is a gauge wiring problem. Start with checking the wiring.
