Not sure what you are hearing but it could be a starter that is fubar'd. Sometimes they get that way when the ignition switch fails and leaves the starter connected to the flywheel EVEN AFTER the engine has started.
That said, remotely, all I can do is point you to this:

no, car does not crank over, but have been using it today a bit and its been fine probably because its only done 700 miles since October 2013
think it might be down to not being used perhaps

Low battery will produce clicking and a no start. Perhaps you just need to drive it more!
And if the battery has enough to engage the starter solenoid and try to spin (crank) the engine, unless it has enough energy to get the AAN/ABY/ADU spinning at more than 13 RPM, the ECU will not energize the J17 fuel pump relay and therefore the engine will NOT start. Just had this happen to me earlier in the week. Had to put the battery charger on for a day. Then it started right up.
Battery is the base thing to check when searching for solutions why your 20VT isn't starting:

New Bosch silver star battery 2 months ago the sound seems to be coming from inside no clicking starter
Having a new battery means nothing if there is a parasitic loss that is killing it.
How many volts do measure across the battery terminals at this moment?
Disconnect the (+) cable. Becareful where you set it down, e.g. a piece of wood. Set your digital multi-meter (DMM) to amps and connect its two cables to the (+) terminal of the battery and the loose (+) cable end. How many amps are being drawn between the battery (+) terminal and the cable?
