That's pretty shocking whoever did the install did not fuse it properly.

This thread is a perfect example of why a car has fuses.

Too true. And don't trust any wiring unless its by someone who knows what they are doing. It looks like a dealer install to be honest...bad stuff

In fact apart from not being fused the install was ok. The problem was someone had screwed the sunvisor bracket screws through the sensor cable

i noticed yesterday that if i cut the two wires coming from pass side door loom (lock im guessing) then the central locking activates and vice versa. i think i will put keyless entry on make it more tech.

this car would be mint if the bodywork had been loved a little more

The central locking actuator has a microswitch in it to trigger the locking off the key, the signal wire to the locking pump gets cut and the ends connected to the alarm. You jut need to cut the two alarm wires and join them together to make the locking work properly again.

Glad you got it sorted. You are so lucky that you were there.

I now disconnect battery before doing anything.

My old coupe went on fire while changing an engine mount. I dropped the snub mount and it shorted between the starter positive and the block, tack welding itself between them. What a bang and fright i got. Car pushed out of the garage rapid and battery disconnected within about 20seconds saved a serious fire. Luckily it didnt burn much more than the positive cable and a bit of the lighting loom.

i have cut from alarm and re joined, central locking works. what i noticed was if i joined wires it would open all locks, if i disconnected it would close all locks or vice versa. easy method to install remote central locking in my opinion? add a wireless switch in between these two cables already accessible from previous install
