brake lights are on all the time due to having no f,uid in systrem pedal not returned properly. ill check them again today and see id they work with brakes unplugged. i have not touched any rear wiring at all so all earths and connectors are as they were beforehand.
is there a plug fir rear lights to connect to front of car you know of.

Oil pressure gauge issue might be as simple as switching the connectors round on the sender mate. One is for the gauge and one is for a low pressure switch. If you mix them up the gauge goes off the scale. Can't remember offhand which is which. Try swapping them over. If you have the same issue then you have an open circuit.
Rear lights is probably an issue with earthing the brake light circuit. Try adjusting the pedal switch, also try disconnecting it in case it's failed closed.Leave a comment:

update. windows now work. green single pin connector not onto ignition live on fuse box. not sure how it was wired in before as cannot find the other end of the lime green plug to connectir.. made a wire up to connect it and als good.
spent a while trying to get alarm to work for locking to no avail. alarm opens doors but wont lock um. need to look into it as the 1991 5 pin cl pump is nowhere near the 20ish pin s2 item that had alarm, full closure etc features.
next its rear lights and oil pressure and im ready for a clutch.Leave a comment:

ok i have had a look and some were my own schoolboy errors.
side repeaters were not connected. the bulbs were into the plug that connects the split front/side basically omitting the small loom.
the brake light switch was open as i have no fluid in so on all the time.
central locking wires were not connected. on the 16v there is a small 3 pin black connector that gives a red wire ignition live and a black and red goes to the fues box for permanent.. not sure why but the red/black is on ignition connection on fues box. it works from the key now. next ill find the triggers for the alarm.
next its test the oil pressure gauge, look into the windows and sort the rear lights. id go for itmes not plugged in again that usually are.Leave a comment:

just to clarify this was a wiring only test. not been in run mode yet
as mines a hybrid i dont have the factory alarm setup. i only have the factory central locking pump. i ripped the alarm out as i dont have thes2 light loom.
mine is s2 engine and dash loom 1996, 16v other looms 1991.
do you know what the connector for the rear lights looks like or have a diagram. i have searched and believe its brown but im short of s2 scematics in this area.

cheers dave
i dont have all the schematics. most useful,.
dont think the ignitio switch is at fault but i will check it. maybe swap it for my other one.
im sure i will have missed somwthing. maybe a fuse here or there or a plug here or there.
on 4. yes i have all turn signal except sides. so i think a plug is not connected.
on 5 the wires have gone to such a bad state i may have an issue there with them.
thanks for the rest. ill investigateLeave a comment:

0. I have to suggest that some or all of these could be related to a bad ignition switch, not making all the proper contacts when in the RUN position. If the switch has not been changed recently, then I suggest that you should start there.wondering if anybody can help here. i have a few problems i feel maybe due to disconnected plugs. most are rear wiring issues.
1. rear lights. i have permanently on rear lights. think they are brake lights. in the outer corner lights next to the indicator. it was very sunny hard to tell i get indicators at the rear. i get front lights but no change on rears when i turn on or off.
2. i get no central locking. im gonna test for power later and update the thread.
3. i get sunroof but no electric windows.
4. i get no side repeaters.
5. on ignition the oil pressure gauge pegs out at 5bar plus? its all connected but no oil in engine

1. If it was just the brake lights, I would have to suspect a brake light switch, up in the pedal box area, like the white one here:

2. The central locking control module gets constant power from the "30" bus at T6/2 and switched power from the "15" bus at T12/1.

3. The sunroof and control module is a dual wide module, either PN 441959257D (labeled 347) or a 443959257B (labeled 287). Both went in positions 5 and 6 in the S2 /RS2 under-dash relay panel
347:

287 in position:

4. Side repeaters should only be on with the signal lights (they are repeaters). You don't mention whether you have front and or rear signal lights. If yes, then must be wires between the front signal lights and the repeaters, if NO, then fuse or switch module issues or fuse issue because of the switch module issue.
http://12v.org/urs/Error404sHowToSer...witchesDIY.pdf
5. The oil pressure gauge sender is a variable resistance ground. If I remember correctly, if there is no ground (i.e. the sender is fubar'd or isn't set up properly) the gauge pegs itself to the end of the scale (and/or behond). You have to check the wiring, including the S14 fuse.

once ive got though these bits and sorted for the new job i may then do a mini project thread. its not something i usually do as i dont take many pics but i can do a few retrospectively. unfortunately ive lost a fair few pics along the way.
cheers for any pointers. ultimately i will have to check things but anything to save me time would be appreciated. i may be not seeing the wood for the trees on some aspectsTags: None
