    putting back ECU

What is the easiest way to put the ecu back in his place, I cant get it back in. The cable and the small vacuum bottle really makes it hard to put it back in.

Do you have to put it back with the letters towards the engine or towards the back of the car?

    thanks again,

    Erik

Hehe. This is probably not what you want to hear but leave the extra holder piece out etc

I have even sawed out the extra "wings" from the ECU. 1min out, 1min back

Mine ECU sits in glove box . To take it in or out it takes seconds . However in future I think i will need some screews, because it will fly in there in the bends .

You can screw it with self tappers up behind the glove box on the duct for the heater and it fits quite nicely there.

Yeah but its not supposed to be fitted like that... There is a space between the glovebox and the heater duct for the ECU. It just takes some practise getting the ******s back up there properly.

Sometimes the upper retaining clip bends to block your progress as you try to refit the ECU so its worth checking that isn't in the way... or what I often find is alarm or audio wiring that is too close for comfort.

The 'wings' on the base can be a problem as its very tight squeezing past the carpet - but a bit of patience, practise and technique usually wins without too much fuss.

Yeah ok Paul. Just 'cause your the master of wipping them out and back in again!
Mine was a bitch to pull out, let alone put back again. No wonder these cars are so heavy. What with all that carpet, sound deadening, cables, ....
I think mine will probably stay as the Motronic footrest. Unless you and my car ever meet, Paul. Now, where's that *** kissing smilie?!

The reason mine is there was because it had a new ECU fitted before I had the car and the bracket wasnt there for it, it wokrs fine where it is for me though
