    Indicator Relay?

Help - the indicators on my RS2 have packed up. We've checked the fuse and it's OK, so assume (perhaps wrongly!) that it might be the relay - based on experience with non-VAG cars.

Trouble is according to the info on the fusebox lid in the engine bay and on the relay panel under the dash don't appear to show a relay for indicators. Local Audi Dealers say there is a relay and one of them ordered one in for me but I haven't a clue where it goes and the number doesn't match any of the relays we can see. (It wouldn't surprise me to find we've been sold the wrong part give problems local garage has had get parts from Audi for the RS2!)

Can anyone help solve the problem - people don't seem to understand hand signals (legal highway code ones!).

The relay is located under the dash but it's not in the relay board. Bizarrely, considering it's quite an important relay and is fitted to every single Audi 80, it's held by a spring clip somewhere near the underdash fuse box.

Sorry to be so vague, but I've not had time to get mine apart to track it down. It's more than likely to be near the a-pillar.

Yep its vaguely located between the instument cluster and steering column - or maybe further down nearer the auxiliary panel. Easy to spot though...

          re indicators

I'm no expert but when my indicators went on the blink (ha ha), the cure was so simple I couldn't beleive it. An auto-electrician friend just pushed the hazard warning button on and off about a dozen times. He explained the indicators are routed through it and the problem was just a dodgy connection at the hazards switch.
I appreciate your problem is likely to be different.

My friendly local garage sorted the problem out for me. Turned out to be a wire chafing against the body work that had blown the relay. And - wonders will never cease - the Audi Parts Department had sold me the right part.

              Thanks for your help!

does anyone know the relay no. for the indicators? or what no. if any is printed on top of it. i assume its just a 3 pin type as i want to replace it with this to stop my led indicators flashing fast.

                cheers

1H0 953 227. Got one in front of me here and it is a black relay, 3 pin with "21" in white lettering on the top of it.
Knowing Audi I dare say they all won't be exactly the same.
