My 94 S6 has an aftermarket Kenwood CD/line in stereo fitted and doesn't seem to be able to hold a good signal on FM.
I swapped the bee sting aerial from my B6 A4 but saw no improvement.
I then checked the wiring and found a 12v booster fitted, there was a couple of fittings there that it didn't need so I took them out and made sure all connections were fully home and the 12v supply was live, the signal improved a little but not enough to hold a channel for long whilst driving.
Very occasionally there is a steady ticking interference noise.
I've just ordered another 12v booster from ebay but are there any other reasons for the poor reception or is it time to upgrade the head unit?
