Early 7A ECU part number help

Hi there, I'm a bit confused here.

I bought an ECU from a fellow forum member for an early (pre-march 1990) 90 CQ.

The part number on it is 893 906 266 (no there are no letters afterwards).

With a little search, I can't seem to find what application is this.

I have another which is 893 906 266B.

The one in my coupe I haven't removed as it seems to be a pita to remove and am only at the troubleshooting phase.

Which one is it !?!?

Is there a "before" early type Audi 90 7A ?

Oh yeah, it does plug in and is a Hitachi 2 plug type.

early was 2 plugs 893 906 266 B

late was 4 plugs 893 906 266 D

ps: in the USA. i dont know the rest of the world

What about one without "b" at the end ?

Dame as the obe with "b" ?

Looking in ETKA it seems the version with no letter at the end is for an NM.

Might explain I had no more spark !!

I don't have etka and partscat.info doesn't show the infos for the ECM's

Trying the one with the "B" at the end now ...

early was 2 plugs 893 906 266 B
late was 4 plugs 893 906 266 D

893906266B was dropped on 15/12/1990 in favour of a 893906266BA

893906266BA was used up to VIN 8A-L-203 050 for 7As

893906266D was used from VIN 8A-L-203 051 onwards in both the COUQ and the A80Q (Sport with the 7A)

The NM ECU was 811906266 (note the 811 at the beginning)

Sort of. But you missed the change from 893 to 811 for the NM ECU:

The NM ECU was 811906266 (note the 811 at the beginning)
