    Battery charging/alternator problem

    Hi all

My s2 does not charge the battery when running. But there is no warning light on the dash.

Car has been stored by previous owner for 6/7 years but the battery is quite new. If I charge the battery off another car it holds charge fine but once the car is running you can see the voltage slowly dropping off.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks

    Ben

Voltage regulator on Alternator may be bad.

Is the battery bulb coming on when you switch on the ignition ?

This is required for the alternator to charge as it completes the circuit for the blue exciter wire

Yes the bulb comes on when I turn the ignition on.

Put a multi meter on the alternator which appears to only be sending out 8.7v. So think it's just the alternator not giving enough charge?
