Help Coupe Windows Just Stopped Working

Windows have decided to stop working drivers one all the way down went to drop the passenger side went down 3 inches and stopped now they won't go up or down. i pulled the switches out and there is no power going to the blue/red wires but there is to the mirror blue/red wire question is there a seperate fuse for these. they have been playing up for about a year where they won't work straight away only after the ignition has been on at least 10/15 mins any ideas plse.

Isn't there a thermal fuse for these under the steering column somewhere...like on their own little auxiliary fuse holder? I seem to remember it's on the right hand side of the footwell behind a bunch of wires...

        363 or maybe 367 relay
Take out driver side cubby/glove box.
Top right should be a large relay
Probably that at fault-always happened to one of my cars in hot weather
Take the cover off and look for joints that need re soldering
Probably a sticky on here somewhere

Yep these fuses are thermal over load things which get tired with age and as a result they open or fail when heat builds up.
So if you overload the system, ie jam your head in the window and try closing it, the overload is felt and the thermal fuse cuts the power before you get decapitated.I have had the issue in the summer where the car has sat all day in the sun and heat inside the car has caused the problem to show.
The same unit controls the sunroof if you have one, and that will fail at the same time as the windows until the cabin has cooled sufficiently and the thermal fuse re sets and gives you the power back

The drive home was 26 miles both windows open cabin cool ,still wouldn't go up even leaving them for a couple of hours so fuse most likely fubar.

for about £7 a go, i would try changing the window switches themselves.

I had dodgy windows for 3 years and then on one fine day set about trying all the usual fixes.

Big Relay opened up and various joint resoldered.

                No difference

Thermal cutout fuses changed for standard fuse for test purposes

                No difference

Wiring continuity checked in body to door loom - all good so no repairs needed.

                No difference

I checked switch action and the multimeter showed all contacts being made and broken as the diagram said they should and power was being sent to all the right places and into the motor connectors. This SHOULD be working but wasn't. It turned out to be corrosion in the switches limiting the amount of current being supplied to the motors. They would 'just' go down but never back up and this made sense as to wind it up, the motor is working against gravity and it just couldn't manage it with diminished power.

New switches and everything working for the first time in 3 years and I now have LED illumination in the switches as an added bonus! :-)

I have similar window issues, are the switches available new still?

                  Thanks

To be honest I didn't even think about going new factory and took a punt on 3 of these:

                    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Switch-win...item4172e35208

The brand is Topran which is German and other stuff from them has been good, putting the country of origin to one side; they work and the quality seems alright! The 'click' is crisp, they fit and the moulding has good definition in the dimples. The only thing I would say is that the LED illumination is quite bright but then that may be just me not having any lights in my window switches in the last 14 years!

stick a normal GOOD fuse in there for testing purposes. Just make sure you don't accidentally leave your head in the way of an oncoming window (if it starts moving that is)

Standard fuses have near enough the same size terminals to fit
