    Switch ignition

My 80s avant v6 had a bad switch ignition.

Ok, i buy one. With the p.n. bu its not the same that it was on my car.

    Look.

The Green piece (new switch) its diferent.

    Dont match with this....

So i was thinking open the older and mount in the new.

    Any ideas? It is possible?

    Somebody can help?

I cannot find one switch that its the same as mine.

    Tks

does it have the correct number of electrical connections and does it physically fit?

I changed my ignition switch recently and found it looked a little bit different but that was a small factory upgrade/revision designed to stop it cracking again.

If it goes in then i wouldn't worry about it. :-)

What's the part number of them?
Looks like this is the same issue as it's on C4. They has 2 different ignition switches - one has smaller hole for ignition barrel pin, other has bigger hole. The one with smaller hole has lots of aftermarket options and is widely available, other doesn't have any and its part number is changed. Iv'e ran into this issue with C4 two times. Both times I took smaller hole switch and just cutted that hole bigger to fit.
After taking a closer look to both switches in picture, this is the same case.

I think the correct PN for an A80Q ignition switch is 4A0905849B.

Last time I used rotary tool but it can be done using file, knife or anything else that's sharp and small enough.

                  Ok job done!

I put part of the original piece on the new switch.

                  Works fine!
