3B dizzy with AAN ecu + coilpack conversion?

Hello. Having problem with converting 3B engine with AAN loom+ecu. I think PRJ said somewhere that G40 hall sensor in dizzy is ok to work with AAN/ABY ecu. I did that, to avoid hard work to mounting hall sensor under pulley(i cant imagine that work on a car).

Just replaced Hall sensor connector in loom to suit dizzy one(triple check that, signal connect to ecu pin 8 , measuring 5V on connector and ground go on inlet manifold grounding). Car dont start. Fault 00515 - Camshaft position (hall) sensor G40. This error jumps after start attempt.

When i put 3B wiring and ecu back, engine starts. Dizzy is set on marks.

Can anybody confirm using dizzy hall with coilpack ecu or another experience?

I bet dizzy is out of phase for the AAN ecu. Find out where hall sensor needs to be at cyl1 TDC on compression stroke and then clock the dizzy to make sure it's right

I ran a dizzy with my ABY ECU/Coil setup without any problems before removing the dizzy and using the cam hall sensor, so this should be fine. Check the settings for the dizzy as Alex has already stated.

I just check pictures of AAN/ABY cam pulley and 3b dizzy at marks, and it seems to be same settings(sensor set just after shutter window).
According to S2central sensor waveform pdf, i can confirm correct settings by checking G4 flywheel pin, when i turn it just under sensor, then G40 must be in the middle of window in shutter, im correct?

Check this mark. Dizzy must be aligned with camshaft pulley mark and crankshaft/flywheel mark with 1st cylinder at TDC.

Be advised that the dizzy impulse disc differs from AAN tuna can impulse disc. 3B disc has 5 "windows", each for a separate cylinder. AAN tuna can only has one, which corresponds to 1st cylinder. This shouldn't be of any consequence if the dizzy mark has been aligned.

If you get a following fault code:

          00515 G40
          04-00 Mechanical Malfunction

then the marks between crank position sensor and cam position sensor are not aligned. Been through this enough to know.

I had a problem related somewhat to this when I installed VEMS PNP on my 3B (i kept the dizzy, no coil on plug ignition conversion).
I got a VEMS PNP for AAN instead of 3B. I had to compare pinout on 55 pin connector for AAN and 3B, from what i can recall engine speed sensor and flywheel position sensor differ from AAN to 3B!
I Would compare AAN and 3B pinouts for 55 pin Motronic connector and look for differences. Don't know if S2Central is up?

Thanks for inputs. As i noted, im using AAN wiring. Posted pinouts and the ones i checked, confirmed that hall is pin8 + power source from pin 12, ground is at engine.

I know marks inside the dizzy, just didnt hear about 5 window version. I will check that also i next few days.

Did you also check the hall sensor polarity at the connector?
From memory it is inverted from the 3B to AAN - check the +12v and earth is correct way at the hall sensor connector

In many diagrams, pins of sensors connetors are not numered. But according scheme from Atris software, its the same 1 ground, 2 signal , 3 power. Also when we consider counting from left, first connection is 1.pin...ect

But you note +12v, here is also http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/tech_articles/motronic/ecu.htm - also on AAN. I measure output on T55-12pin just 5v exactly.

                    Where we can found thruth?

EDIT: Eror404 you are right, i check pdf 1993 s4 wiring diagram, where is 1pin positive. I have connection according it(and diagrams where is no pin numbering), so i will swap 1 and 3 pin.

Confirmed, engine started. There was swapped polarity at Dizzy connector. When i take whole dizzy off, there is also + and - marking on it , unfortunately not visible on engine

                      Thank you guys.

Can you photograph the 3B hall sender connector with the connector boot pulled back, something like this AAN hall sender connector to confirm/deny changes?

Ok, as its not my car and i dont have here by me it will take some time. The dizzy connector i solder on AAN loom has 1.red-yellow 2.green-purple 3.red-black colour, and its probably sourced from some other older audi engine, not 2.2 turbo.
But in a car was 3B loom, unmodified, so im going to make photo from it.
