    OBD Kline stuck - fuses

    Hi all,

It's been few months that I cannot connect via Vagcom, having it configured correctly, so today I notive the following:

K-line gives 10-11v to any ground.

When fuse 17 is unplugged, goes down to 6v

When also fuse with pink fuse holder is unplugged, goes down to 3v.

If I also unplug fuse with orange fuse holder, goes down to 0v.

My question is, where to start from?

Fusebox at the moment jsu tin case its useful for yourself

    Thank you

So I answer myself a bit:

    Fuse 17 -
17 Heater blower, air condition, cigarette lighter (Australia) 30

    Fuse 31 -
31 ABS, cruise control, diff lock 15

    Fuse 32 -
    32 Engine timing III 15/20

    Checking the wiring diagrams ...

... Fuse 17 is for the Digital Air conditioner -> is connected to the OBD

... Fuse 31 is for ABS -> is connected to the OBD

... Fuse 31 is for Cruise Control -> Not Fitted
... Fuse 31 is for Diff Lock -> is NOT connected to the OBD

So I can guess that the Digital Air Conditioning or/and the ABS are somehow making the K-line stuck.
I'll try tomorrow to connect Vag-Com with the fuses unplugged. If not Ill try to un-plug both modules completely.

Just one question, is there any problem/downside of driving with the ABS module disconnected?

    I'll keep you updated.

Some how you managed to miss the S21 fuse which is the one that you should be looking for.

        Hi Dave,

Fuse 21 is good, I get 12v in the black connector.

I believe i shouldnt get any voltage in the white k-line l-line connector, and that is what confuses me.

        Thanks anyway

Ok, disconnected the ABS and clima modules and now I get acceptable K-live voltage (<9v)

But still cannot connect (tried 3 cables and 2 laptops, working before, correct COM ports, correct drivers etc)

Is it possible, that having 12v in the Kline has burn the cables? I'll try to connect them in another car :S

          Any ideas?

          Thanks!

Do you have an aftermarket radio fitted? If so try unplugging all the power connectors at the radio & see if your communication issue goes away.

                Ross-tech advice:

"If you have a volt-meter: measure the voltage between pins 4 and 7 of the diagnostic connector with the ignition and radio turned ON. If it's under 9V, your K-line is fine. If it's over 9V, the results are inconclusive. You'll need a 1k Ohm (approximately) resistor. Put it between pins 4 and 7 of the diagnostic connector. Now use the volt-meter to measure the voltage between 4 and 7 (in parallel with the resistor). If it's under 1V, you don't have the problem. If it remains near 12V (the resistor will get hot!) you do have this problem and you'll need to fix it per the the instructions below. "

                Just saying
