Don't get me wrong but all aftermarket HID kit's I ever seen cost 350-400$. So it's a normal price for a HID kit with 8500kelvins. A little bit more for bi-xenons.

Locals want 380$ for a kit . But as I say it's common.

    Vagparts.com guy's no offense!

P.S. You need rs2 elipsoids for thouse xenons to look beasty ! .

I've got the elipsoid style headlights already, sure i looked at HID kits a lil while back and UK prices are like twice that!

Cos that works out to around £200, sounds cheap to me? maybe not then

Ant - Have you seen the pics of the differenet kits on the S2s? The vagparts kit looked really good in the flesh - no glare like others and definitely the whitest and brightest HIDs there - I'd go with the vagparts one as I don't think it would be that much more expensive, if at all(what's shipping and import duties?), than those ones you pointed out and they are of known quality.

I wasn't interested in HIDs until after I saw them on Martyns car - just don't have spare cash.

Yep maybe Doug is right , didn't thought about the duties and taxes. But then you can always have a agreement with the shop about sending it as person to person with a gift field.

But I'm still looking into installing s8/s6 original ballasts.

And for the next MartynF message (posted the same time) : I prefer deep blue spectre

As a side note, import duty which you will have to pay UK customs is 22% of the TOTAL value!! not just the parts value! you pay 22% of the parts AND shipping costs as the import duty so by the time you add that to the kit cost, they work out a fair bit more.

Also... 8,500K bulbs! forget it!! you'll be pulled over ALL the time by the old bill!! 8,500k is WAY TOO BLUE!! trust me!! I have 8000k on my bike, and its very blue! so 8500 will be worse...

6,500k is what I use on my S2 which has a nice blue tinge to it, but no more than a tinge!!

I reckon you'd pay about £310 ish for that kit delivered, which is still cheaper than 98% of all UK HID suppliers! I can match that price @ £310.00 inc vat delivered and you'll have no worries with the kit, bulb check problems or supply issues!! Not that I am haggling for a sale, just pointing out what I know from experience.

Thanks Martin, was purely looking as a matter of interest as was given the link by a mate and thought i'd share it in case others were interested. I wasnt aware VAGparts also done a HID kit otherwise i'd have looked sooner!

All depends if the Audi stays or not tho, have to see how the next few weeks go, but could def do with some brighter headlights!

The old man bought a VAGfarts HiD kit for his car. Good quality stuff. If i had the spare money i would buy one tomorrow.

BTW, what the hell has someone super glued to the bonnet of their S2 in that pic (far right). :eek2: What a nasty mod

audiman: Hehe , the right is actually sedan quattro converted to 3B engine , s4 gearbox and lot of stuff. It has Blah Blah Blah features like forced diff blocking after 40km/h and s.o. And the bonnet vent (subaru mod) thing is actually working. It's connected to the cone air filter under the hood.

I don't like it myself but the owner does . It's actually looks like a one-peace with the hood when you look closer. I can say "It was gloed nice" .

I dont think that i will be doing that somehow.

I know this is going off topic but why would you want the diff locked at higher speeds?

audiman: Who knows..... I didn't really thought about that then. I believe for some handling and sharp corners driving in some situations ???

I knew only one thing , it's restricted to 40km/h becouse it can be damaged when used above.

But truely speaking I thought few times why the diff unlocks on 40km/h when trying drive out of snowdrifts. We have a quite troublesome winters here. And it would be useful not unlock it after 40km/h sometimes.

I would have thought locking the diff over 40km/h would make the car almost impossible to drive around bends. When the diff lock is on, my car feels like a tractor or a tank or something :wacked:

That's only up to about 15mph (when it automatically unlocks) and it feels horrible when you stop going straight and try to steer. Don't want to think what it would be like a higher speeds :eek2:

When i did the xenon conversion on mine i used ballast's from an audi A6 and got custom 6500K bulbs from CA Automotive. works a treat, think there is some pics from the meet at billing with a line out of the different kits.

found pic on martyn's site. Part reason mine looks a little more glary is my car was at a different angle to the other slightly.
