ellipsoids illegal?

i recently went to my local GSF store and asked if they sell ellipsoids out of curiosity, i was told that they don't sell them and i will have problems getting them from Audi because they are now illegal. ILLEGAL! please god no!
can anyone tell me if this true

Yay,,,,good news for all you pre-ellipsoid S2 drivers then, as a damn fair few cars these days have ellipsoid (projector-beam) headlamps,,,,,,the roads will be empty
